he Saxtons River Recreation Area invites young anglers to take part in the Annual Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 2nd at the fishing pond located one mile north of the Rec Area on Pleasant Valley Road in Saxtons River. Registration begins at 8 AM, with fishing starting promptly at 8:30 AM. The event is open to children ages 4 through 14, and participants must bring their own gear and bait and be accompanied by a guardian throughout the derby.

Trophies will be awarded in each age group—ages 4 to 6, 7 to 10, and 11 to 14—for:

First Fish caught
Biggest Fish
Most Fish caught

Every registered child will also be entered into a prize raffle! Volunteers are needed, and high school community service hours are available.
