On November 7, 2024, at 48 Emerald St Keene, NH, Brewbakers will host New Sphere, an exciting new jazz quartet led by soprano saxophonist Titus Abbott, performing the timeless compositions of legendary African American jazz composer and pianist Thelonious Monk. The event promises an unforgettable evening featuring both familiar and lesser-known pieces from Monk’s catalog of 70 compositions, bringing a fresh perspective to his often under-recognized genius.

Joining him is pianist Frank Carlberg, originally from Helsinki but now a stalwart of New York’s jazz scene. Carlberg’s deep understanding of Monk’s work adds a profound layer to the performance, having worked with jazz luminaries like Steve Lacy and Kenny Wheeler, and as an accomplished composer in his own right.

The quartet is rounded out by bassist Kim Cass, known for his impressive versatility and command of the upright bass, and Michael Sarin, a drummer at the heart of New York’s avant-garde jazz scene, whose dynamic drumming adds an adventurous rhythm to the group’s performances.

This is a rare opportunity to experience Thelonious Monk’s music performed by some of the most accomplished musicians in contemporary jazz. Brewbakers provides an intimate setting for the audience to connect with the music on a deeper level. Don’t miss this special night! Tickets are $20 and are available for purchase online.
