2015 Block Party
Ten years ago WOOL turned on its transmitter for the first time and unleashed one of the first LPFM stations into the northeast. A decade later the station is stronger than ever. On Saturday, August 15th, WOOL celebrates this exciting anniversary with a block party at the Waypoint Center in Bellows Falls featuring musical performances from Sunny Lowdown, Suzanne Waldren and the Mas Leo Band, Acoustic Sool, Peggy’s Cue, and Charlie Brady and Joe Stacey. Ten years! Live music, good food, cash bar, prizes! Advance tickets are $10 through the wool.fm website, or $12 on the day at the gate. Things kick off at 6:00 PM.

Starting as a Low Power FM station in 2005, WOOL graduated in 2014 to a full power broadcast license, making it perhaps the most powerful independent community-owned station in Vermont and New Hampshire. With its broadcast studios on an island in the Connecticut River and its antenna high atop New Hampshire’s Fall Mountain, the station is truly a piece of the Connecticut River Valley. Sustained by listener contributions and business underwriting, the all-volunteer organization continues to grow into maturity. Powered by the adjacent hydroelectric dam, Black Sheep Radio is heard throughout the mid-river valley.
Sponsors of this event include Popolo Restaurant, Lisai’s Market, the Village Market, Mr. G’s, Shaw’s, Cota and Cota, and the Town of Rockingham.
