Brattleboro, VT: Southern VT Sister District, a group of local volunteers working to support the blue wave in flipping state legislatures across the country, is very excited to welcome Rita Bosworth, the executive director and co-founder of the National Sister District Project for a discussion of the group’s 2019-2020 strategy. All are welcome to the event at Brattleboro Music Center on Saturday, March 30th from 4-6pm. Come join with local Sister District activists to hear Rita’s inspiring message, place a silent bid on the spring Save Our Nation Vacation auction, and learn how you can get involved. There will be live music and delicious appetizers.

The southern VT group is known best for it’s creative fundraising ideas including the popular SVt Soup Subscription project and the Save Our Nation Vacation auction. Combined, these efforts have raised over $30,000 to date. These local activists also provide support for strategic, Democratic, state races through phone banking, text banking, and sending targeted postcards to voters. In addition, the southern Vermont team supports Sister District Action Network with research to determine best practices for increasing voter participation and gathers for a monthly book club.

Rita Bosworth is one of the founders of Sister District Project. Since its inception in 2016, this national project has supported 16 candidates in Virginia, Delaware, Washington, and Florida; of those candidates 15 were successfully elected to state legislatures. The organization has over 40,000 volunteers nationally and has raised over $1.1 million going directly to Democratic candidates.
