From May 9 through Memorial Day weekend, Art Month in Bellows Falls will highlight the arts and cultural community.

The celebration kicks off with an exhibition of local artisans at Flat Iron Cooperative, 51 The Square, all of whom are participating in the 30th anniversary of the Vermont Crafts Council’s Open Studio tour on Memorial Day weekend. This year the annual tour boasts 150 artists and galleries putting their studios on display throughout the state. Studios are open from 10 to 5 on Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29.

At the end of May there will be an official Open Studio Info Center at 33 Bridge Street, where visitors will find seven artists exhibiting, and music and food. Artists participating at that site are Nick Kekic, blown glass; Clare Adams, painted glass, Teresa Hall, pottery; Mike Lewis, stone; Scott Morgan, paintings on canvas and guitars; Shannon Parker, jewelry; and Jeanette Staley, canvas floor cloths.

It is a short walk between the downtown and 33 Bridge St. Around the downtown Square are additional artists participating in the weekend, including the studios of Phyllis Rosser, Robert McBride and Mindy Fisher, as well as the River Artisans Cooperative, and Canal Street Gallery.

The Mid-River Bulletin Board is facilitated by WOOL-FM.
