Cheryl Wheeler and Kenny White

Friday, May 20, 2022
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Next Stage
15 Kimball Hill Rd
Putney, VT

Contemporary folk singer/songwriters Cheryl Wheeler and Kenny White will perform at Next Stage on Friday, May 20 at 7:30 pm.

There are two Cheryl Wheelers. Poet-Cheryl writes of some of the prettiest and intelligent ballads on the modern folk scene. Her evil twin, comic-Cheryl, is a militant trend defier and savagely funny social critic. Honest songs of love and loss contrast the prosaic landscapes of small-town America with the hopelessly rootless life of the traveling performer, touching a common chord with any who feel the tug between these busy, noisome times and the timeless longing for simplicity and silence. Her songs have been recorded by Bette Midler, Peter Paul and Mary, Kenny Loggins, Holly Near, and Garth Brooks.

Kenny White began his career in the 1970s, touring as the keyboard player for Jonathan Edwards and then Livingston Taylor. He became a fixture in the NYC studio scene throughout the ’80s and ’90s, working with Gladys Knight, Aaron Neville, Merle Haggard, Keith Richards, Linda Ronstadt, Marc Cohn, and Judy Collins.

Next Stage is located at 15 Kimball Hill in downtown Putney, VT. Tickets are $22 Advance / $25 At the Door / $5 Virtual. Advance tickets are available at nextstagearts.org
