YAMATO: The Drummers of Japan

Saturday, January 25, 2020
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The Colonial Theatre
95 Main St
Keene, NH

YAMATO: The Drummers of Japan will perform at The Colonial Theatre in Keene, NH on January 25. The modern and physically powerful troupe is comprised of dozens of musician-athletes who play with precise choreography. YAMATO preserves and respects the Taiko tradition while infusing originality and innovation into the ancient practice. Notably, they broke from Taiko’s long-standing patriarchy and have always included women in the troupe, and they imbue performances with joy and fun, breaking from the stoicism associated with the ancient art form.

Over the past 26 years, the troupe has performed in 54 countries and regions, giving 4,000 performances for nearly eight million people. They travel with about 40 Taiko drums.

Tickets can be purchased online at TheColonial.org or through the box office at 603-352-2033.
