Beginning October 3rd and running through March 2020, The Sustainable Energy Outreach Network (SEON) and the Windham Regional Career Center will deliver late afternoon and evening training designed to assist working age adults enter the career as a Level I High Performance Builder. This is the initial phase of an industry recognized credential.

This is the first certification program of its kind in Vermont for the carpentry industry, and is endorsed by the Vermont Homebuilders and Remodelers Association and Vermont Passive House. In addition to basic construction best practices, the training focuses on higher order building science including energy efficiency, durability, indoor air quality, health, and safety.

The program will encompass classroom learning, hands on learning in a lab, and apprenticeship-style jobsite learning to prepare carpenters and builders to build the next generation of homes.

Architects, engineers, building codes, and knowledgeable customers are demanding more of practioners. There are opportunities to advance in high performance construction for incumbent carpenters and those entering the trade. Certified tradespeople are in short supply.

For information about the training, visit SEON’s website at seon.info/hpb-overview/, or contact Guy Payne by email at guy@seon.info or phone 802-376-9262.

Registration will be through the Windham Regional Career Center; contact Drew McDowell by email at dmcdowell@wsesu.org or phone 802-451-3965.
