Friday, October 4, 2019
7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
Next Stage
15 Kimball Hill Rd
Putney, VT

The Akwaaba Ensemble, traditional African drumming and dance, performs at Next Stage on Friday, October 4 at 7:30 pm. Performance artist, singer, musician, and author U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo opens. Tickets are $20 available online, or $24 at the door, available at nextstagearts.org, and three weeks in advance of the show at Turn It Up in Brattleboro and the Putney General Store.

The Akwaaba Ensemble’s energetic performances are a reflection of their name, which means ‘welcome’ in the Twi language of the Ashanti tribe of Ghana. At each performance the Ensemble brings Highlife music, West African drumming, and dance to vivid life.

U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo, whose Ndebele/Zulu name means “What are we waiting for?” is a Boston-based Zimbabwean American Performance Artist and Poet.
